Policing is a solid careerYour cheque is always bigger than your base salary. Overtime is paid at double time. All court time is compensated. Night shifts are paid at higher differential rates. Statutory holidays are triple time. It adds up fast.

Here are some average salary milestones to give you an idea on just the base salary:
  • 1st year on the job = up to $52,000 per year
  • 3rd year on the job = up to $64,000 per year
  • 5th year on the job = up to $76,000 per year
Few careers are more stable than policing. There’s always a need for police officers and that need only increases during slow economic times.

Vacation time starts at three weeks. That’s right, three, not two weeks. And it goes up to six. Yes, six weeks paid vacation. Pair that with days off from shift work and your opportunities to travel or spend time with family and friends get huge.

You believe in lifelong learning. You can enroll in specially designed professional development courses throughout your career and receive tuition reimbursements for your own additional training or education.

  • Life insurance plans
  • Employee assistance programs
  • Counseling services
  • Uniform allowance
  • Fitness centres

After 25 years, you can start receiving an excellent pension. Yes, pensions still exist. And yes, some officers retire before 50.
